Piggy's Journal

Ralph had just called an assembly, So I'm walking on my way thinking why should I go no one ever listens to me anyway. They all think I am a fat mindless person anyway. So I came into the assembly with a lot of belligerence. When I first got there it was blatant. So Ralph started talking about how none of the people do any work, they don't build shelters, and they don't follow the rules. I felt a sense of leadership in Ralph, finally he was trying to take control of this island and he's doing it malevolently. He also tried to tell the littluns and everybody else that there is not a beast but they don't want to listen to Ralph. They Jack being the savage boy that he is says that he and his hunters will go out and find this beast a slaughter him. I needed some balm because i was talking to Ralph so much. Then Ralph told me that he might give Jack the leadership power. After he said that I decided to convince Ralph not to give Jack the leadership. Then everybody was asleep and the sound of a distressed littlun woke us up.

Ralph's journal

Today has been a bad day. It started off with with Jack trying to catch a pig we went deep into the woods chasing it but he didn't catch it. So I keep trying to build the huts but they keep falling before they are done. The vicissitudes of building these huts were unbearable. I go and try to find help and all people do is give excuses and all the hunters do is use hunting as an excuse. The hunters aren't contrite about not being able to help me. It seems as if Jack is rapt in hunting and nothing else. The huts are starting to become opaque with holes in the roofs and walls. Then Simon wonders off into the jungle alone. So he must be doing something mysterious. Simon also helps the littluns get fruit from the tendrils. Overall this day hasn't been going to well. The next morning I here the littluns talking about the beastie and how they are scared and think it is around at night. Then Roger and Maurice decide it would be funny to stomp on a sand castle the littluns had built and throw rocks at them. Even though they didn't hit the littluns, it was still wrong. Then Piggy and I are sitting on the beach and on the horizon we see a ship. We get so excited and we think we will get rescued and leave the island. Then we notice that the signal fire is out. So we didn't get rescued, and it was all the hunters fault for not watching the fire. So the hunters come back bloody and chanting a weird song. They are holding a dead pig on a stake. Angry I go up to Jack and yell at him for being irresponsible and letting the fire burnout. Then Jack starts making fun of Piggy for his baby complaining voice. After that mockery, I had to have a talk with. After I talked to him he took responsibility for the fire but he never apologized to Piggy. I knew I had to have a assembly.

Jacks journal.

This morning we were called for a meeting. Ralph must have had an idea, a stupid one at that. We finally start the meeting. Ralph tells us if you want to talk you have to have the conch. With that said I knew these meetings would be full of ebullience. Then that errant Piggy starts his stupid speech. He's telling us how know one on the island knows we are here and we could be here forever. Then a boy with a mulberry birth mark on his face started talking about a monster something he saw the night before, he called it the beastie. The older boys knew there was no beastie, so we induced him to think there isn't a beastie he was just dreaming. Then Ralph comes up with the idea that we should build a fire. So I get the conch and ask where would you build this fire, you can't just start building random fires on the island. Ralph tells us the central mountain top would be the best place. So then it started to become a good idea. So we went to the central mountain top, found our place and gathered wood. So then we tried to start the fire and nothing was working then we thought we burn it with some type of magnyfing glass, then I saw Piggy's specks and I pinched them. So we start the fire and it's starting to turn out great, until it dies down. We trying to make another fire but we accidentally set the trees on fire. Then Piggy starts talking about the boy with the mulberry birth mark had been playing in the fire and was now missing. We were all shocked, ashamed, and sad. We hoped he wasn't martyred and burning, but we knew he was dead.

Lord of the Flies

Simon's Journal

When I started to look around and try to find out where we where, I didn't know what to expect. My face was full with pallor, I thought we got shot down because I saw no one in sight. I started to venture more to find anyone, I looked down and past couple of trees was a beach, the motif of the landscape was beautiful. Then I met a lot more people who were all about my age so we stood close. There was one person in particular that stood out his name was Jack he seemed to stand out because he seemed to be the leader. Then we heard a loud noise so we followed it until we found the source of it. He was a boy probably a few years younger than me, but he didn't act like it, he had much more effulgence than younger boys. Beside him was a fat boy and a bunch of young boys. The skinny boy's name was Ralph, the fat boys name was Piggy, which bought sniggers to the boys when we heard his name. Then someone proffered that we should have a chief, I was very incredulous about Jack being chief but I picked him anyway. Even though Ralph became chief, he appointed Jack head of the hunters. Then Jack, Ralph, and I went on a quick adventure to see if we were on an island we encountered a wild pig. Jack was the leader of the hunters, so it was his job, but he couldn't do it. We found out it was a island so we have to come up with ideas soon or we may never leave this island.

Ind. Rdg. Post Because of Romek Post #4

1.) The most shocking part of the book I think was when David's mother and sisters died right in front of him, when the Nazi's rushed in. This is the most shocking to me because David somehow was able to slip under the couch, and the rest of them got murdered. If I was David I would have been going crazy, screaming and fighting.

2.) I think that when David got his job feeding the dogs it was one of the best parts of the books, because he got a source of food, and he got to stay away from the tough jobs that the other prisoners had to endure. I think it was smart when David used the dog food as some food for his self so he could survive. So I think that part of the book showed how smart he was.

3.) During Davids stay at Bergen-Belsen he described as one of the worst camps he had encountered. Describing it as filthy, dead people lying around, and people eating others. During his stay there he gets a sickness called typhus, which he almost is killed by the disease, so he escapes death again.

4.)I think one of David's proudest triumphs was when he one again escaped death, and survived the gas chambers even though he was sick. I think it was meant for David to survive because he went through so many life and death situations but he is somehow still here. I think David is glad he is still alive compared to most Holocaust survivors because I think that he wants to get what happened to him out of him, so the whole world will understand.

5.) I think David Faber's book Because of Romek should be read to all middle schools, high schools, and universities because it will help the the people that read understand what happened to people in the Holocaust. If they read it they would know why people are effected they way they are by it and be more appreciative that they don't have to go through what David and others went through. I also think if they read they would be more proned to stopping something like that from ever happening again. I think if more people read this book the world would be more peaceful.

Project Reflection: Post on your Blog
Project Title: Renaissance

Class: A-B Dates: 6-6-08
*You may type directly in this document and copy and paste into blog, or simply address each of the following in a post. It should be approx. 2 pages worth of writing.

PURPOSE: In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.
Sentence Starters
The purpose of this project was to learn about…
In order to learn about _________________, we had to create/perform/ write/etc…

The purpose of this project was to show about past life and culture back when the Renaissance was just beginning. In order to learn about the Renaissance we had to research a person, and do a 3-5 page biography on them. We also had to learn how to dance like the Renaissance people did.

WHAT I LEARNED
In this section, tell what information or skills you learned or improved.
Sentence Starters
I learned about…
I explored the concepts/topics of …
In this project, I learned how to…. (skills)

In this project I learned about the dark ages and how the Renaissance was very important because it brought so much life in it's art, math, science, and law. I explored the concept of when there were no cars and there was no electricity, but the important Renaissance figures still did what they could to help out these very dreadful times, and made things hat still are honored today. In this project I learned how to research better, I learned how to find good sources, and i learned how to write better when it comes to writing biographies.

REFLECTION
In this section, reflect on your experience. Did you like the project? Why or why not? How did you do? What would you do differently next time?
Sentence Starters
I enjoyed this project because…
I feel like I could have done better on this project because…
Next time, I would…

I enjoyed this project because it showed how math, science, and art were really used
by people with little resources coming from dreadful times to creating things such as the
Sistine Chapel. So it really showed that things so significant can be so important to
people in a desperate time also very important today.

ARTIFACTS
You should have at least one artifact from each project on your DP. What document, picture, or link will you have for this project?

I will put my biography on my dp.

Reading Post #3 Because of Romek

1.) When I first heard David Faber speak I was kind of shocked because I could not believe that he remembered everything that happened to him. I didn't know that someone that actually survived something so tragic, can speak so strong and not be bursting out in tears about what happened. I think David Faber is the toughest person I have ever met because he got tortured, beat up, but he somehow seemed to survive with and without his family around.

2.)I think when David was with the partisans was when he was the happiest because he was safe and they were like a family to him. When David was there he would help bomb Nazi trains so they wouldn't find the partisans hideout, and he was very brave and didn't complain. I think that is why Romek was proud of David.

3.)I think that the Gustapo let David go after torturing Romek because they knew thathe really didn't know anything. I also think because of his age is also the reason why they let him go. I think that the Gustapo thought David was going to eventually die so that is why they let him live.

Rdg Posts #2 Because Of Romek

1.) I think David's pigeon is significant because it saved his family and himself more than once. I also think it could be a good friend for David because he doesn't have anybody else. I think that the bird will save David's life one more time but then I think it will die.

2.)I really don't understand what you mean on this question.

3.)Why did you get a pet pigeon, when you could have gotten a dog or something else.
How did you end up surviving but everybody else died in your family.

Rdg post #1 Because of Romek

1.The book I am reading is called "Because of Romek". I learned that in the Holocaust, the Nazi party tortured Jews of all kinds. Also different skin colors that were not the German prototype.

2a.David Faber's family is a very tough family that really fights for what they believe in and who they are. I think that the Faber family showed more courage than fear in the worst of the worst of times.

2b.I think David remembers every memory of the early chapters of the story because those were probably the most shocking times to live, especially since he was just a young boy.

3.After reading the part were David tries to save his dad, it showed that David was very corageous and it shows how much he loves his dad. I think David is avery strong willed person and I think that is why he survived the Holocaust.

individual rdg. posts pgs. 1-20

1. The story I am reading is called When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit. I think this

book is intersting because it shows what it was like to be jewish when Hitler was

running for president. It is also coming from the prespective of a girl.

2. The main character of the story is Anna. Her family is Jewish and if Hitler

becomes president it will be not good for them at all. Anna's father is famous so

when people see her they automatically know who she is. Anna has a brother named

Max, who is really hates nazi people because he is jewish and also because he is

a sozi, which means peole that are voting against Hitler. So far the book is

interesting.

Project Title: Aztec Mural
Letter:B Dates: May 5, 2008

PURPOSE
In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.

The purpose of this project was to learn about the Aztec symbol that our mural depicted.

Our group did the warriors stepping out of the sun and into the moon, it was to also show

the outfits of the warriors overtime. Our mural was really just like it was in real life

because the colors are the same and that is what they really look like. I also learned

about the lifestyle of the Aztec warriors.

WHAT I LEARNED
In this section, tell what academic information or skills you learned or improved.

I learned about Aztec history, culture, and how the warriors dressed and how they

started. I learned that the Aztecs believe that there warriors came from the sun. I

learned that the Aztecs style of dressing started with the rank of the people. One of the

highest ranks of dressing for the army was the cheetah dude. He also had a pony tail. I

also learned that the capital city was Tenochtitlan.

REFLECTION
In this section, reflect on your experience. Did you like the project? Why or why not? How did you do? What would you do differently next time?

I enjoyed this project because it put together fun and learning at the same time. What I

mean by that is we got to draw and paint. I think I did descent on this project. I think

I did descent because there were certain areas that I wasn't focusing in. I could have

did better by listening to my group and payed attention more.

WORK HABITS
Complete the following section about your work habits. How did you manage your time in and

outside of class? What parts of the project were you responsible for? What strategies did

you use when you had difficulty understanding or completing the project?

I was responsible for picking colors and I also picked the topic which was Aztec warriors.

Independent Reading Group1

SON OF THE MOB
68 pages read.

The story I am reading is called Son of the Mob. The main characters of the stories name isVincent Luca, the son of a mob boss. The girl he likes, her father is in the FBI and he is working against Vincent's father. In this story Vincent had been traveling trying to act and when he went
on his trip he grabbed his father's suitcase instead of his own. So he makes up a plan to get his
clothes while at the same time he realized his dad was using his Mazda to sneak the cash out of
town safely. During the story Vincent tries to act like everything a play and act it all out.
Through most of the pages I read, Vincent is scared of his father so that's why he really doesn't
tell him anything. Overall so far I think the book is getting more dumb as we go because none of
it really makes sense.
